What are the key principles behind the new clinical funds flow model?

The Funds Flow Committee identified seven specific features important to the success of this new clinical funds flow:

     1. Incentivizing growth of clinical programs

     2. Ensuring that productive and efficient programs are financially sustainable

     3. Recognizing UCSF’s academic missions and mechanisms to support these missions

     4. Driving efficiency and quality in care delivery

     5. Increasing patient access

     6. Enabling competitive provider compensation

     7. Employing a model that is strong and flexible enough to adapt to fundamental changes in the health care market

The clinical funds flow model that was implemented on July 1, 2014 addresses each of these seven features yet will undoubtedly require modification in the coming years as the health care market changes.
